UNSUNG

It's TAXI DRIVER for the 21st century.

Oh lordy, lordy––before anyone's head explodes in a fit of fury over imagining the horror of someone suggesting a TAXI DRIVER remake, that's not what I'm suggesting.

The idea for this came actually from a mass shooting that occurred in 2016 at the hands of an Uber driver:

"An Uber driver charged with fatally shooting six people in western Michigan told police that the ride-sharing company’s app takes over 'your whole body' and forced him to go on a killing spree that also left two wounded." (Source: The Guardian)

Change the unsung Vietnam veteran to an unsung and tormented screenwriter whose anger, desperation and delusions finally culminate in a night of terror, picking up unsuspecting industry executives and killing them. In the end, he gets a deal from an exec afraid for his life. Perhaps he writes the assigned movies in prison. It could use the same sort of dark humor as in THE PLAYER.

This is what happens when you love films like TAXI DRIVER and THE PLAYER and you read the news.
